What about the good ole' Nismo GT-R? That thing is a technological masterpiece, built by a small team of takumi craftsmen, in a hermetically sealed factory. Each engine is assembled by a single man and then put through a bench test that includes it performing at maximum revs for 10 minutes. At standstill the engine is out of alignment with the transmission on purpose because when you accelerate and the torque causes it to tilt backwards on its mountings — all engines do that — the alignment becomes perfect.

The tyres are filled with nitrogen because air is too unpredictable. The gearbox is at the back for better weight distribution.

The Corvette? Come on, it's assembled by a bunch of Kentucky hillbillies, and even your accountant can work on the engine if he pays a few grand. Where's the finesse? Where's the technology? Where's the progress?

Just kidding. The Corvette is great, can't wait to see them in a comparison. But the really epic battle would be the one between the R36 and Corvette Zora.

It was only 1.4 seconds faster than the Z/28 in C&D's lightning lap, so I'm sure the Z06 would easily dispatch it.

I can't tell you how much I want a comprehensive Z06 vs Nismo comparison. There's a lot other cars to throw in that mix (Viper/Turbo S/etc) but those two are would be the headliners.

Because the Vette has a proper manual gearbox.

It's A meeellion times better looking.

It has rear wheel drive.

It has eight glorious snarling cylinders.

And it's $25k cheaper.

Great drivetrain, great idea to mount the transmission in the back (aka "Corvette location"), shame about the 3900 it has to drag around, and the brutal maintenance costs. Imagine if they could put a TT V6 into a 3100 pound car...

One is brand new the other isnt. If there's a new GTR on the horizon I'm sure that will be the bees knees for a while. Plus I read most of what you said like Jeremy Clarkson.
